More than a dealership

Sooner Cycles & Power Sports was started by Robert Bruce in the spring of 2003 as Sooner Schooters of Oklahoma. He was one of the first to bring electric scooters into the state of Oklahoma and began selling them, with the help of his team and parents, as a fundraiser for his little league football team called the Sooners. The name and spelling of Sooner Schooters was derived from the "Sooner Schooner". The venture was so successful that within the first month he purchased a semi load of electric scooters to be sold by the team. As football season was winding down in the fall, it was obvious that not all of the scooters would be sold. He and his wife, Tammy, began selling the electric scooters wholesale and retail, as well as providing parts and service. Within 6 months, they had opened a store in South Oklahoma City, and had expanded into gas powered products that were being imported from China. In February of 2005, Sooner Schooters moved into a larger commercial location at 236 SE 59th St. and continued to grow the business by expanding into other products, including atvs, dirtbikes, go-karts, street scooters, and motorcycles. The store was expanded in October of 2006. With the addition to the store and the growth of the power sports line of products, the name was changed to Sooner Cycles & Power Sports in the spring of 2007, to more accurately reflect the products that the business offered to the public. The present store location is a 6500 square feet facility that includes a large showroom, parts department, and service department. Including the warehouse, the Sooner Cycles & Power Sports operation consists of almost 15,000 square feet. We maintain a large inventory of units and employ 6-10 people, varying by season.
